Receiving as much hype as the Twilight Saga, and the Harry Potter series, everyone has, at the very least, heard of Fifty Shades of Grey. The so-called ‘Mommy Porn’ trilogy.
E. L James thrusts us into the shoes of Anastasia Steele and her adventure into BDSM with Christian Grey. I refused to read this book, simply because of the fact that it was extremely mainstream. That removed the appeal of the book for me. The change came when I found myself downloading the novel on my Nook. To be honest, it took me a while to actually get into (the bookworm’s way of saying we’re not interested), but just like with The Hunger Games, I forced myself to keep going. And when I got into it, I could not put it down!
Through the eyes- of Ms. Steele, we feel our way through the world before us. This book had me strapped onto an emotional rollercoaster. I smiled, frowned, slammed my Nook in rage, and found myself turning it off in frustration. The feeling was wonderful. However, the ending (which had me in tears) was so emotional that I flat out refused to read the second novel… I may just read it out of curiosity. I want to read it, but at the same time…I don’t right know. The novel, of course, is wonderful, but I feel like I was too emotional towards the ending of the book.
